The Corkscrew Bird Sanctuary blends peace and adventure, with Life and Decay around each corner. The 2.5 mile boardwalk keeps you just above the fray, but don't be fooled by the calm. Corkscrew is home to hundreds of alligators and tracks of the Florida Panther are regularly spotted. Wading birds, songbirds, and all types of raptors abound in this enchanting mix of swamp, prairie, Pine flatwood, and Bald Cypress forrest.

Notes: I can feel the humidity just by looking at the lichen covered boardwalk. Corkscrew is my "must visit" destination every time I head to southern Florida. Located just 30 miles northeast of Naples, this Audubon sanctuary is like no other place in North America. Here's a link: http://corkscrew.audubon.org/visit
